Cluttered prints

Pin It Now!
IMG_9341
Believe it or not, I actually find the task of clothes shopping tiresome and often confusing. It’s mainly due to the sensory deprivation I get from seeing one too many sweaters in various shades of off white, or the hundredth jean which can only be distinguished from the last by the number of rows stitched (often relative to price). I’m basically saying that every brand sells the same stuff and that’s not so great for someone notorious for her lack of attention to detail. So naturally I migrate to the cluttered prints, nonsensical colour schemes and complexity – the kind that can be also described as a plain mess. Unfortunately that also somewhat describes the state of my house right now.

New in: Jeffrey Campbell Soiree Sandals

The ultra chic Jeffrey Campbell Soiree sandal is a happy medium betwen prim and rock, and was originally released in black and silver leather with clear heels and straps. It was some genius shoe designer's brainwave to have a chunky ankle strap juxtaposed against 'invisible' toe and heel (perhaps inspired by stripper heels which have always utilised clear plastic), with the unexpected silver lining on the sole completing a perfect shoe. And unlike a lot of Jeffrey Campbell designs, there's no other shoe quite like it.The Soiree has been released in numerous redesigns in suede, brights, nuetrals, floral, ombre heel and more, but to me none of these hit the mark like the original. Yes, I realise I'm starting to sound like some kind of a shoe fetish, but believe me, my love for this shoe is entirely plutonic. My own regret is that I definitely wont be able to get away with not maintaining a pefect pedicure. A small price to pay afterall.

End of week look: The tank and the dress

Pin It Now! IMG_4051
I’m some what obsessed with these big cat printed frayed tanks that a vendor sells at the Canberra Fash’n’Treasure. Though I get the feeling you could make one easily yourself, I still like the idea that someone else scouted out the shirt, cut it by hand, and that each one is one of a kind.

Pleated Midi dress

Pin It Now! IMG_2194IMG_2217IMG_2215IMG_2203
I wore: Biker Jacket – T by Bettina Liano • Pleated midi dress – C&A • Jeffery Campbell Spiked Lita –www.revolveclothing.com

I think a great basic item should be 1) amazing looking on its own 2) colour and style neutral so it goes with everything, and 3) never lets you down when you don’t know what to wear. That’s why I totally love this simple maxi dress from chain store C&A in China. I love that it’s got a really flattering high waisted and draped design and that it’s easy to pair with just about anything. I’ve ween wearing it with my grungy biker jacket and colourful sweaters pulled over the top. A change of shoes also completely changes the overall look. You know you’re onto a winner when it’s the first thing you reach for every morning.
Do you have a basic item that you reach for every time?
