Geo Mari Gold Grey Review: For mysterious sparkling eyes

Pin It Now! One of my favourite trends at the moment is metallics. It’s showing up in all the forms you could possibly think of: shoes, belts, dresses, jeans…but contact lenses? Ok, I had to do a double take when I heard about this. The Geo Mari Gold series actually has gold specs inside. How the heck did they get that in there?!

Needless to say I was super excited to receive a pair of Geo Mari Gold Grey by www.eyecandylens.com to review. Here it is in the ever so adorable Eyecandy Lens custom lens boxes.

The thing I love about Geo is the effort they go to with their label designs. Most other lens companies make their bottle look more like medicine than fashion accessories.

The basic design of this lens is ordinary enough, with an opaque black band around the outside and a grey translucent inner band. But here’s what makes this lens so unique. The inner most band is made of gold metallic specs! You can just see the light reflecting off the specs in this photo. If you think that’s cool, wait till you see what this looks like when worn!

There are some pretty crazy lenses out there that you’d probably just wear for novelty value, but this lens, while you’d probably categorize as a novelty lenses, is infinitely wearable! I might not define it as totally ‘natural looking’, but the gold specs are quite subtle, and unless you get up real close, all you’ll see is a kind of mysterious sparkly glow.
The gold specs are arranged in a way that from some angles, it looks like a subtle spiral. I never thought I would say this, but this could be a lens that would show up better on darker eyes. The gold specs are semi-translucent, so might not show up as well on lighter eyes.

Now lets talk about size. This is a tiny lens in the scheme of things, at 14.2 mm. Personally I rarely wear lenses under 15 mm. Smaller lenses call for lighter makeup, and obviously doesn’t give as great an enlarging effect, but this also means this lens would look cute with very little makeup at all.

Geo Mari Gold is very comfortable. Actually you’ll probably notice that the smaller the lens the more likely it will be comfortable to wear.

There are also other colours in the Mari Gold series. I’d be very interested to see what the purple or the blue look like! Get them here!

  • At 14.2 mm, may be too small for some
