Review: Burt's Bees Garden Tomato Toner

Pin It Now!
When I ran out of my Clinique Anti-Blemish Solutions Clarifying Lotion, I decided to try something new. I went to Myer today, and Burt's Bee's Garden Tomato Toner (for oily and troubled skin) caught my eye. I love the fat tinted glass bottle. It reminds me of those antique bottles you'd find in an alchemy lab!

Burt's Bee's lip balm is the only one I'll use (I have 7 of them lying around the house!), so I was hopeful that their other products would be just as effective. I really like that their products are 100% natural and are, they say, good for the environment and the world. Importantly, their products are not tested on animals.

The list of ingredients is quite ambitious: Filtered water, SD Alcohol 40-B (from yellow corn), vegetable glycerin, Extracts of cucumber, green tea, parsley, tomato, bilberry, sugar cane, sugar maple, orange and lemon, and fragrance. That's a lot of vegetables in one little bottle!

The fragrance reminds me of Calvin Kline's CK One with a rosy twist.

Verdict:
The main reason I insist on having a toner/lotion is to control my blemish problem. After using this Toner, my face felt quite refreshed and clean, but I didn't get the tingles like I did with the Clinique toner. That's probably because the Garden Tomato Toner doesn't contain any Salicylic acid. However, I did really like the refreshing smell it left on my face :).

I'll have to update later about its effectiveness in keeping my face clear.

Extras
The thing I love about buying beauty products from the counter is that nice surprise of getting free gifts! I actually didn't know Burt's Bees was having a promotion, there weren't any signs up as far as I could see, but at the moment Myer is giving away a makeup bag and four sample products with purchases $24.95 and over. Luckily for me, the Garden Tomato Toner was exactly that price.

I'm not that crazy about makeup bags-I don't like storage devices that don't stack :/.

But I was really excited about the 'Super Glossy Natural Lip Shine'. I'm up for trying all of Burt's bee's lip care products. The product description is 'Moisturizes like a balm with a juicy fruit flavor and a sheer color gloss'. The ingredients include castor seed oil, sunflower seed oil, sunflower seed wax, beeswax, sweet almond oil and soybean oil.
Verdict
The gloss is practically clear, with a slight tint. It glides on smooth and feels very confortable on, but unfortunately (as it contains only natural oil and waxes to give it its viscosity) it's really not that glossy. But as with all Burt's Bee's products, it smells great! The scent is refreshing and fruity, but not in that fake Lipsmacker artificial way. I would probably be using this product as more of a lip balm than a lip gloss.

  5. @Riya: Yup the lip balms are amazing! They really keep my lips soft for ages!

@Sweetkuromi: Thank you for following me back!! Wow a guy asking about skincare - I respect that.

@Sugar: Thanks, that's good to know!

@Sandy: Yeah why not try it, Burt's Bees products are all very reasonably priced. Although as I said in the review, the lip gloss really isn't as glossy as glossy as others you are used to, but does make your lips feel nice ^^
