When I was a kid, they tell me I was notorious for losing my shit - in both senses of the word. I was gifted with being able to cry on cue and scattering my possessions around town. Gloves, scarves, toys. On shoe is still down a well somewhere. But the days of losing a cell phone annually are over. Or so I thought. The day I wore this Fedora from Choies and took these photos, I lost it. That’s right. I left the house with it – on my head – and I walked back in the house without it. You see why people claim losing things is a gift of mine? I guess I should have heeded the warnings of my girl Jess at OnceTwiceBlog about a well fitting hat, and she sure has a great one. Sad about mine though… And as for the rest of my outfit, I can’t gush enough about full fur clutches. While I assumed the style is a recent innovation, I guess fashion does go in cycles. To find this vintage rabbit fur piece at Heather at Heatstorm Blog’s closet cleanout sale was pretty amazing. It was one of her opshop finds. See, that’s why we hit the goodwill! I would baulk at the thought of donning real fur, as I am terribly against killing animals for their skin, but somehow vintage seems forgivable. Though I would have been just have happy with faux. If you are reading this post, it means I’m gone. Gone to Bali! Goodbye miserable cold Canberra, hello tropical beach resort! Ironically, today’s outfit is very Autumn, and Summer is officially over in the southern hemisphere. Again, I’m excited to put my considerable collection of knits back into wardrobe rotation. I’ve returned from Fash’n’Treasure today, having found new homes to a number of last winter’s outerwear (we tried, but in the end were just not right together), and made room for a few new pieces which I can’t wait to debut in the coming weeks!

 

End of week outfit: Baroque shirt and pleather pants

Here’s my first outfit post with a few things I purchased during my trip. China really isn’t the cheap shopping destination I remember. Even wholesale markets are charging prices comparable to overseas. Surprisingly, I found the best prices in foreign chain stores. These pleather panelled pants from C&A in China reminds me of the inexplicably popular American Apparel disco pants. Personally, I never considered buying a pair of disco pants because I was pretty sure it wouldn’t be flattering for my, shall we say, fulsome thighs. I much prefer the leather look anyway. Has anyone shopped at C&A? Apparently it’s a Dutch chain. I hope they come to Australia!
Baroque is my favourite trend at the moment. I guess it kind of aligns with me of gothic and lolita themes. Will you be wearing baroque this season?
On another note, the filthy UV filter has become completely stuck on my 50mm camera lens, so all my photos have been blurry and slightly out of focus this week. On the bright side, the photos are come out somewhat dream like and whimsical. Does anyone know how to remove a stuck UV Filter?
