The GEO Aster (XTRA) circle lens series look deceptively ordinary, but are super unique and outrageously pretty. Today I’ll be showing you guys GEO Aster (XTRA) Grey.

Berry Holic (XTRA) Series Grey: So natural!

Pin It Now! The Berry Holid Xtra Series are natural coloured lenses on the large side, and comes in grey and brown. Today I’m reviewing Berry Holic Xtra Grey, which gives naturally translucent eyes with a grown up feel.

The key to the natural look of this lens is the two tone colour, which starts brown in the centre of the iris, fades to grey, then ends in a semi-solid black border.
Berry Holic XTRA felt really big to put in, but I had to remind myself that it’s the same size as almost all my other lenses, including the Princess Mimi Bambi series. I think the reason they feel big is that they are made so thin and soft, so they tend to flip over as you try to put them in.

The lovely halo effect makes your eyes look translucent. The design also shows up really well against my dark eyes.

Geo Mari Gold Violet Review: Intricate and so so pretty

Pin It Now! I just can’t rave about the Geo Mari Gold series enough, the first contact lens design with metallic specs. I’ve now tried three colours of the series, including Geo Mari Gold Grey and Geo Mari Gold Blue, and I’ve loved each one. Surprisingly, each colour in the series has its own unique look, partly due to the different ways the metallic specs look against the main colour. My final review is of Geo Mari Gold Violet, and I’m so excited to tell you guys about it!

Geo Mari Gold Blue Review: Beautiful colour and looks great even without makeup!

Pin It Now! Totally intrigued with Geo’s new Mari Gold series, with metallic gold specs. After reviewing Mair Gold Grey, I was eager to also try the other colours in the series.
Apart from super subtle designs like 1 Day Acuvue Define, it’s very rare that I would recommend wearing a circle lens without any makeup. This is because circle lenses alone look freakishly big in the eyes, and usually need to be balanced out by makeup, especially false lashes. If the lens is small enough that you don’t need makeup, well, then, it’s probably so subtle that it’s not worth even wearing it!
Geo Mari Gold blue is a completely different story.

GEO Princess Mimi Bambi Apple Green Circle Lens Review

The GEO Princess Mimi Bambi line, as far as I’m concerned, set the bar for cosmetic circle lenses. No longer was it simply enough just to have a black ring, to define and to enlarge, and lenses could no longer get away with delivering colour with a simple low definition design. GEO Bambi Princess Mimi lenses gave not only enlargement, definition and colour, but sparkle and glow, with intricate iris designs and multi-faceted colour.

Originally produced by popular gyaru model Masuwaka Tsubasa, and sold under “Angel Color Bambi”, GEO reproduced a more affordable version of these designs under Princess Mimi. While Chocolate Brown, Sesame Grey and Apple Green are the same design in different colours, Almond Brown is really a very different concept, and some say don’t really belong in the series. However for me all four designs are legendary.

The design of Apple Green, like Sesame Grey and Chocolate Brown, features an opaque black outer band and a translucent ring of green, and then yellow. This gives it its multi-faceted colour. The spaces between the iris design lets your natural colour show through, and creates a sparkly halo effect on Asian eyes. The Bambi series leave quite a lot less space in the centre for your pupil than other designs, and this gives maximum colour coverage for dark eyes.

A lot of people say they feel that the Bambi series don’t look natural, but I totally disagree. Out of all the lenses I’ve tried, I feel that the Bambi designs most successfully replicates the look of the real human iris. Although the one thing that does make this design look somewhat unnatural is the uniformity of the pattern.

I’ve heard that people think 15.0mm is too large, and they prefer the smaller 14.0mm and 14.5mm sizes. I think 15.0mm is the perfect circle lens size for creating the gyaru look, while 14.0mm maybe be better for more natural ulzzang makeup style, or no makeup at all. I’ve dabbled with 16.0mm, and I think this is definitely too big. When you go larger than 15.0mm, the difference in eye enlarging effect is rather negligible.

In terms of comfort, I’ve often commented that the bambi series are not the most comfortable lenses. The comfort level can also differ from day to day, strangely. Some days they are comfortable all day, and other days you eyes start to feel dry after a few hours. However, as long as you keep them well hydrated with eye drops, they should stay comfortable. This doesn’t apply to Princess Mimi Bambi Almond Brown, however, which are one of the most comfortable lenses I’ve worn. This might have something to do with the amount of the lens surface that’s covered by the design.

Friday Review: GEO Bella (XTRA) Brown Circle Lenses!

Initially GEO Bella Brown was available in tiny 14.0mm diameter size. But now, there’s Geo Bella (XTRA) Brown, a not too big, not too small size of 15.0mm! With my search for the perfect brown lens still ongoing, I think I’ve found a new front runner!

Geo Bella (XTRA) Brown comes with a rather unassuming packaging label, but don’t be fooled, these are very special brown lenses.

The design is probably comparable to Geo Princes Mimi Chocolate Brown, in that it goes from an opaque brown iris design, to a thick black border. But the design is much more simplified, and in its concept also reminds me a little bit of EOS Candy Brown. So maybe we could describe Bella Brown as in between those two.

I just love how these lenses look. It’s not a super natural design, but out of all the brown lenses I’ve tried so far, Bella Brown gives the most natural brown colour. With the thick black border, Geo Bella creates a super dolly look. For this kind of design, I think the 15.0mm size is perfect.

As for comfort, Geo Bella feels a lot like the Geo Princess Mimi series. Not the most comfortable lens, being on the thick side. But kept hydrated with good eye drops, I found these comfortable all day long!

I’ve been a customer of Eyecandy Lens for a long time now, and I’ve seen their customer service get better and better. They were one of the first stores to send contact lens bottles in appropriately sized gift boxes, and now they’ve had made their own Eyecandy Lens branded packaging! I’m totally impressed!

Fashionably caring for your eyes: Rohto Lycee Rewetting Eye drops

Recently there’s been a lot of talk about the potentially harmful effects of wearing fashion contact lenses. As many of my readers are regular circle lens wearers, I wanted to take a step back and talk a bit about eye care. I think the most important thing you can do as a contact lens wearer is keep your eyes hydrated throughout the day. While there are other risks like scratched cornea from defective lenses and infections from improperly cleaned lens, one of the most common problems arising out of contact lens wear is eye damage from oxygen starvation.

Basically, eyes need to be in contact with oxygen at all times to stay healthy. However, when you wear contact lenses, this creates a barrier between your eyes and the air, so normal oxygen absorption is disrupted. To assist in delivering oxygen to the eyes, soft contact lenses are made to retain a high amount of water (hens why they dry out when left out of the solution). The higher the water content, the more oxygen is transmitted to your eyes. That’s why it’s so important to keep your contact lens properly hydrated throughout the day (and to not wear contact lenses for prolonged periods).

There’s of course, also cosmetic reasons why you might want to keep your eye hydrated – reducing blood shots!

But eye care doesn’t have to be bland and boring! While I was living in Japan, I noticed that lots of girls were carrying around the classic square shaped Rohto eye drops, so I was really excited to see that this range was being stocked at http://eyecandylens.com/. EOS Candy Brown–The classic dolly eye lenses

Following on with my ongoing quest for the perfect brown lens (which I had previously announced to have found in Princess Mimi Almond Brown), today I’m reviewing the classic of classics in the circle lens world, EOS Candy Brown. Having previously owned and loved it’s lookalike, GEO Sakura Brown (until it’s untimely demise due to man handling by me), I knew, without even having to try these on, that I was onto a new contender in my search for the perfect brown lens.

EOS Candy/Jelly is one of those classic circle lens designs that have been around for quite some time, and is, as most beauty bloggers will happily agree, one of the best lenses for creating that big eyed dolly look. It’s one step up from the pure circle lens, which simply features a black ring, as it adds colour, and is available in a wide range of colours, from green to pink. My personal favourite is Candy brown.

The design is simple but genius. It features a relatively thick black band on the outer edge, and is followed by a subtle light brown opaque inner ring, which gradually fades out. Here is where EOS Candy Brown differs in appearance from GEO Sakura Brown, which has two very defined rings. Looking at this lens, you would think, ‘how is this supposed to look natural, it doesn’t even attempt to look like a human eye!’ But there’s more to this lens than meets the eye.

This lens is loved by many Popteen magazine models, for its ability to define the eye, and create an effect that you can only describe as ‘dolly!’. It’s also very similar looking to the Puream Pure Bear lenses that Kumicky produced, and wears in so many of her shots in Popteen.

Here’s the close up. You can see that even on my very dark eyes, the design shows up quite vividly.

Here’s how the lens looks in direct light. I love how on my dark eyes, it makes me look like I have huge cat light dilated pupils.

And here in ambient light, in which the lenses look soft and ever so slightly dreamy.

Best of all, these are so comfortable!! I wore these out shopping all day, and I almost forgot they were there.
